Tom used a $50 note to pay for a $2 drink. Upon paying the cashier handed him $48 worht of change. However, Tom realised that he had a $2 note in his pocket, hence requested to pay using the note instead. The cashier, being very supportive of GEMS, gladly agreed. So Tom handed the cashier the $48, plus the $2 note. The cashier then passed him back his $50 dollar note.

Amt that Tom paid:$48 + $2 = $50
Amt that Tom get back:$50 note

The amount Tom paid and got back was the same. Why is it that he got away with a free drink?
